The Wolds

Handprinted original linocut print of the English Wolds - beautiful green rolling hills in countless shades, decorated with trees and forests.

This piece is inspired by the beautiful Yorkshire countryside. It is an 11 layer reduction linocut print.

The artwork is created by hand carving the design into a linoleum block using traditional Japanese printmaking tools, loading oil-based ink onto the block and taking an impression onto paper by passing it through an etching press. This process is repeated for each layer, removing more of the block each time.

The paper is heavyweight, natural coloured Fabriano printmaking paper.

Each print is editioned and signed as part of a limited edition run of twenty-one prints. This piece cannot be reprinted as it is a reduction print.

This piece was created and designed by me, printmaker Sophia Luna, in my home studio in the historical, walled city of York.

Approximate Sizes:
Print: 4.7x4.7 inches (12 x 12 cm)
Paper: 5.9x5.9 inches (15 x 15 cm)

Please bear in mind that all colours are hand-mixed and each piece is printed by hand. Each print will therefore vary slightly in colour, size and alignment. No two prints are the same, making them entirely unique - something which makes them even more beautiful.

All prints are posted in heavy duty parcel tubes/envelopes to ensure they are protected throughout transport.
